More about this scene
Looking at this photograph of the Druids` Stones, with the horizontal stone on top, one can understand why an early 19th-century antiquarian wanted to claim it as an Ancient British cromlech. However, the Hon Louisa Stanley had great pleasure in disabusing him, as she was only too well aware that it was part of her family`s early 19th-century landscaping on the Edge. He was not made happy by this information.
