More about this scene

Amberley Castle, seen on the right, dates back to Norman times and was strongly fortified in 1377. It was originally the residence of the Bishops of Chichester, though its fate was sealed when the Parliamentarians began to dismantle it during the Civil War. Parts of the castle survive today, having been skilfully converted into an hotel.
