More about this scene
Before the construction of the town centre, there were few shops in the new Basildon. Initially, just two small Co-ops served the first few hundred inhabitants in the Fryerns neighbourhood. It was quite a while before a more all-encompassing parade was built. Mobile traders thrived in the intervening period.
