More about this scene
Here we are looking west along Est Street, to the Town Hall and Market Place. This was the retail hub of the town, with each blind shadowing a shop window on the sunny northern side of the exceptionally wide street. The gable-end signage is for John J Shephard's Brush and Basket Manufactory and William Shepherd's Photographic Establishment. Opposite (far left) the illluminated wines and spirits sign also offers Cyclists' Touring Club Quarters. Further along are Louis Trevett's haricutting and shampooing saloons. A ladder leans against the gutter beside Dick's Boots.
