More about this scene
The distinctive central tower of King William's College was designed by John Welch and was a feature of a major rebuilding programme following a fire in 1844. This picture was taken the year one of the college's famous old boys, Thomas E Brown, died. Born in 1830, the year the college opened, Brown was a poet, scholar, and Fellow of Oriel College.
