More about this scene

The timber framed jettied house called Whitehall, standing on the corner of Park Lane and Malden Road, is thought to have been built as a farmhouse c1500, and over the last five centuries it has undergone numerous alterations and additions. At the time this photograph was taken it was still a private residence, but it was subsequently acquired and restored by the local borough council in 1963, and is now opened regularly to the public.
