Yes I remember Fowler’s and certainly my mother would having lived in st albums road as a girl in the 40’s......
I lived in Gander Green Lane during the war, but cannot remember the house number. I know it was near to the High Street which had traffic lights and the air raid siren. Straight over the road I believe was the railway station. My grandparents lived the very far end of the lane which led if my memory serves me right, to Epsom. Can remember the barrage balloons, going to school, and the V-day street party and just childhood memories in between. Well it was 77 years ago afterall.
