Anyone remember THE WOODSTOCK , my friends and I used to go dancing there.
We used to have such great times 1968 - 1970.
There was Me Jackie, Tania Davy, Eileen Fisher, Nigel , Robert.
I remember a song Knock on Wood. Such memories.
I cannot remember Roberts's last name, hoping he sees this and gets in touch,
we lost contact in 1970 , we were such good friends,He worked with my Dad Albert at
Champions's Timber New Malden.
I lived on the London Road, opposite Nonsuch Park until I was 19 years old, half way between North Cheam and Ewell Village. If you check the map this is Malden Road, not Maldon Road, and this photo is North Cheam not Cheam (Village), a short bus ride away from Cheam itself as I recall. I lived at The Gables 22 park road cheam in 1950 to 1955 went to Ambleside school oppisite the red lion pub, the Fair came once a year to our road great fun with the galloping horses and playing All I want is Music
Hi does anyone remember the turning off of gander green lane that had a church on the corner and next to that was a builders yard which had a house and next to that was big blue gates with I think fowler was the name across them the house was named Ottawa I would like to hear from anyone that remembers this place, I use to live in the house with my three children in sixty,s also if anyone remembers the yard Forman Albert Clark Email address is freddy1212@virginmedia.com thank you.BerylClark
I am not old enough to go back to 1925 but going back to an eleven year old I can remember Nonsuch Park being cropped during the war with cereals. We were able to walk through the park to the mansion & gardens & the only area you were able to have football etc.. was the piece by the entrance from the London (nr Sparrow Farm) Road.
I was born in Churchill Road in 1943. Attended the Chatsworth Road Infants and Secondary and went on to Senhouse Efficiency College. I also attended Vanes and remember the shows we put on at the Cheam Social Club. We used to tap dance to Shirley Temple's 'good ship lollipop'. It was great fun. I was a pupil here and Miss Dickie ('The Bird' as we called her) was our headmistress and much respected and revered. I believe she retired a while after. It was an excellent school though we did take it all for granted sometimes. We were always looking forward to when we could raise the funds for the swimming hall, which did happen eventually. Yes, I was at Vane Dancing School and remember June Bannister and Roger. I am Joan and my sister is Valerie Copas, my brother Ray also was in the shows and my mum sometimes played the piano if she had to! Esme was our dedicated teacher, say what you like, but those early years gave all of us the ability to use the dance later as rythym for Jive or Rock or any. Good fun
I inherited my aunt's letters from pen pals in England during WWII. Four of my uncles served during WWII. One of her pen pals that attended this school, Paula W. Anderson, sent her a Frith postcard during the war. She wrote a message on the card and mailed it with a letter and picture of herself.

Does anyone have any memories of the Cheam Fair back in the mid to late 1800's? I understand it still takes place this day!
