More about this scene
We are looking towards the Red Lion, an early 19th-century public house with attractive bay windows. Beyond, the railings and notice board belong to the Baptist Chapel, built in the 1770s and enlarged in 1799, a delightful hipped roofed building with galleries on three sides, lit by upper windows. The trees and hedge on the right have since been removed and a wide grass verge created.
