More about this scene
Rebuilt in the 15th century, the church received the Bedford Chapel in 1556. Of this chapel only the archway into it from the church survives, the rest being rebuilt, enlarged and extended in the 1860s, 1880s and in 1906. Inside the chapel is a quite outstanding collection of tombs and effigies of the Russell family, ranging from Sir John, the first Earl of Bedford who died in 1554, to the 20th-century Dukes of Bedford.
