More about this scene
In 1509 William Ford, a merchant, founded and endowed the Greyfriar's Hospital, a half-timbered almshouse for five poor men and their wives. It was just one of a number of generous donations made to the city during the 16th century; others included Bond's (Bablake) Hospital for poor men founded in 1506, and Bablake Boys' Hospital in 1560.
