Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Founded in the 12th century, the hospital of St John Baptist offered temporary relief to poor wayfarers and relief to the sick and poor of the city. St John’s benefited from a number of bequests, including a weekly load of wood; this was negotiated by Roger de Montalt, Earl of Chester, when he sold off his lordship rights in the Earl’s Half to the Prior. St John’s was disbanded during the Reformation, and the building later used for a free school.

How The Years Pass ..
Over the years the layout of Greyfriars Green has changed enormously by and in 1950's, it was vastly different to this early picture. In the 50's as a child Father took our family to visit the green using it as a vantage point to watch the, then, Annual Coventry Carnival as it passed down from assembling in the Memorial l Park and between the green and the buildings facing us on The Quadrant side.

Allesley Park
It would be early 60's and we would all meet up at Allesley Hall, on one of those long summer evenings, to have a massive game of Hide and Seek ( Rally, rally 1,2,3!) We would be about 8 or 9 years old and most of us were from St. Christopher's School. The rallying post was a huge old tree trunk in the middle of the gardens. Re. Search For Information

Hi all, I'm really hoping someone out there can help me. I am trying to find someone who worked in Coventry in the 70's. She did deliveries to a cake shop 19 Acorn Street, Stoke Aldermoor which was for a long time called 'Elaine's bread and cakes' it changed names a few times before that, so it would be great if someone knew the name at that time. Canley
The part of Canley where we lived was made up of what were called "the steel houses" and "the prefabs". Charter Avenue was a dual carriageway and then, at the beginning of Ten Shilling Woods it became a single road. I was always told that it had been begun during the War and was built by Italian POW's; when the war ended they went home and the road was never completed. The house we lived in was built by Wimpey. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
