More about this scene
The arch leading to the chancel has beautifully carved decoration. The coat of arms that is displayed on the chancel arch today bears the arms of George III and was restored in 1963. In the Middle Ages, the small door to the left of the arch led to the rood loft, where stood statues of the Virgin Mary and St John.
