This view looks south. On the left we have Porter & Sons, wholesale glass and china merchants, and the imposing bulk of the Guildhall with its porticoed entrance supported on Corinthian columns. Many of the buildings on the right hand side of Frenchgate were demolished in the 1960s to make way for the Arndale Centre.
