More about this scene
Dover is about two hours from London by express train. During the summer months there is a good service of steamboats between this interesting watering-place and London. Shakespeare's Cliff commands a broad view of the shores of France. It is about 350 feet above the level of the sea; its height is supposed to have been greatly diminished by bits of rock falling from its summit.
