I went to this school between 1965 and 1971, the school has long been demolished but believe it or not I actually live on the same site as the old school , my front door is where the entrance to the school was !!!!!!!!! Caroline Tarr (Brearley)
I lived in Clayton Street. I remember playing in the street - rounders where our ball kept bouncing against the gable end of Mrs Lowndes house in Meadow Lane, and she wasn't happy! We had no gardens and we all played in the street. There was an air raid shelter built on spare ground opposite our house, it wasn't very substantial and we used to play hide and seek around and in it... I used to do odd jobs ...see more
I went to this school from 1964 - 1970. It has now been demolished. The head teacher was Mrs Finneran and some of the teachers were Miss Baba, Mr Sloane, Mr Cook, Mrs Bintcliff and Miss Hooley. On the corner of the school was a sweet shop called 'Blue Taylors' because the owners were called Taylor and the shop was painted blue. We used to go to St Mark's Church for services at Christmas.
