Central Park Road

A Memory of East Ham.

I lived at 350 CentralPark Road with my grandparents.Aunt and uncle and cousin in the fifties/early sixties...I went to Central Park secondary school and remember well East Ham Granada...and saturday morning Pictures..There was a small shop in Katherine Road by The prince of wales pub where we could get a penny drink and a tuppeny fag(Usually a weight)or for threepence a senior service...lol It was run by a man called "Alfie"....used to spend a lot of time in Central Park and Sunday afternoons at the Odeon..I remember there were so many of us we used to take up a row of seats and often get chucked out for being a bit raucous..lol..Saturday nights in the Central Pub in later years were good...with a pianist and drummer called Lil and Lou..compere was abloke called Tommy DeVille ...used to all get up and give a song ...moved away in the mid sixties but have fond memories of East Ham....Thanks for taking the time to read this....Barry

I had fond memories of the Granada and Odeon cinemas. Always at the Granada Saturday mornings with the Kiora drink. Afterwards we would walk up to the chippy near the town hall or a wimpy. Great days.
