After the 'bird cage' bandstand was taken down in about 1934 from its location on Grand Parade, it was moved east to the Redoubt Gardens; it is pictured here with a band in full swing. It has since been demolished, while the Redoubt, a Napoleonic defence fort, is now a military museum.
