As can be seen, the Eastleigh swimming pool was very popular. Many galas were organised, and schools used it for their swimming training and sports. Fishermen were particularly pleased with this development, hoping that the pool would be used by those people who previously swam in the River Itchen and disturbed their activities.

I lived in Eastleigh from about 1959 to 62 and although I was nearly 5 when we left, my earliest memories are of Eastleigh. My dad was the manager of a shoe repairers, possibly called shoecraft and we lived behind the shop. But I'd love to know where it was. It was surrounded by other shops but I think it could be one of a few streets. There was a lovely old guy called Percy who worked there, he used to call me tuppence ...see more
I used to go to school with his daughter Rita Creed at Hillside School in Winchester in the late 1940s, and had to walk her each school day to Winchester Station. She lived in Archers Road Eastleigh. Thanks Peter Kitching.

Hi,I don't know if anyone can put me out of my misery, I have memories of a Bowling Green on the sight of Sainsbury, is this a figment of my imagination or was it really there,it would have been there in the seventies as we moved to Chandlers Ford around that time .Carol Sorby/Doling
