David Buckland From Kestrel Road To Caustons Then Corfu

A Memory of Eastleigh.

I was born in Kestrel Road in 1945 went to Chamberlin Road school then on to North end and from there got an apprenticeship at Sir Joseph Causton, Had many a memorable year working there but eventually left to work with Thomson Holidays all over the world, eventually buying a farm in Mallorca and doing Magic in the nightclubs (Something I was trained to do with Thomsons) I was known as "Garth" whilst working at Caustons as I was only a wee lad at 16 years? I hadn't recalled Eastleigh until coming across this site accidentally but now remember - some of the girls in Caustons who I worked with, Jill Goody, Ann Stait, Pearl Kilford, anyone remember Di Brooks what a character he was? anyone remember Garth!!!!

I also lived in Kestrel Road, Eastleigh 1948-1972 (my parents beyond this year). We were across the road (number 14) and I remember David from boyhood days although attending different schools. Other contempories were Graham Yeoman, Barry Cottell, Roy Johnson, Roy Brixton, Shirley Jibson. I remember David's father worked at the original Southern ITV Studios. My father worked across the road from Sir Joseph Causton at Pirelli General (he was also a weekend flying instructor) whereas I went into Shipping at Southampton with a family run Company of Port Agents/Shipbrokers. I also remember that David's father was a keen radio ham. I have only commented now as is was by chance (a fluke looking for something else!) I came across this memory. Coincidently my wife and I are booked to spend a holiday in Cala d'Or, Majorca very shortly so I will send acedavid123 a message.
