More about this scene
Exmouth enjoyed live theatre quite early on, as seaside resorts go. Long before the sea front Pavilion Theatre was built, a small playhouse existed in the Parade in the centre of the town at the very beginning of the 19th century. The great tragedian Edmund Kean performed on stage there during his tour of South Devon.
