Finningley, The Village 1951

More about this scene
The 450-acre Finningley Park Estate was sold in 1935, and within a year a new RAF airstrip was built on its flat land. The airfield was an important centre during the war, and was in use until the mid 1990s. There are now firm proposals to develop an international airport on the site. Here we are looking towards the Bawtry Road past The Harvey Arms (right) and the adjacent stables. Behind the green is the village pond, and to the right of the pub is the Old Bakery, built in 1878.
