More about this scene

The clock tower was offered to the railway to be built by the station, but the offer was declined – so it was built by the parish church. It was presented to the town at mid-day on 4 December 1912 by Mrs Sophia Deardon, who was a local benefactor. Local limestone and St Bees sandstone were used in its construction.

Showing the original Crown Hotel, and obviously pre the clock tower.
