More about this scene
Time-worn steps lead up into the lower courtyard of Haddon Hall, instantly recognisable as the backdrop to countless feature films. The first Haddon was built by William Peveril, the same descendant of the Conqueror who built Peveril Castle at Castleton, but the present building mainly dates from the rebuilding by Sir Richard Vernon in the 14th and 15th centuries.
