Haslemere, High Street 1931

More about this scene
The High Street is unusually wide for a Surrey village, with the Town Hall of 1814 in the centre. There is remarkably little traffic in the picture. The Dolmetsch family came to Haslemere in the 1920s, and the Dolmetsch music festival was established by Arnold Dolmetsch in 1925 to perform early music.
