Tithe Farm Days

A Memory of Houghton Regis.

I grew up in Houghton Regis in the 1960s, we were a big family, and seemed to go to all the schools, including Houghton Regis Upper, Northfields, Queensbury, Manshead. My dad moved there for work from London before I was born so it was all I knew.
I remember long summers, walking over the fields to Dunstable, swimming in Tithe Farm Junior School pool, playing at the Rec and hanging out at the haunted house on Bidwell Hill.
I'm currently doing research in education and would love to hear from anyone who grew up in the area in the 1960/70s especially if your dad or mum worked at Vauxhall.

I was born in 1964 and went to Tithe Farm Infants and Junior School and loved the outdoor pool even when it was freezing. Went on to Linmear and then to Manshead. I think you were in my class there. My summers were also spent at the Rec, the haunted house and roller skating dangerously round the streets.

My name is Pat, don't think you will remember me I was very quiet then. I left Houghton and moved to Yorkshire in 1990 although I have returned several times. Many of the houses and various other buildings are still there but it feels like it has no soul anymore. I have many happy school and home memories from childhood.

I went to tithe farm school from 1964 - 1970. I loved it there. My dad worked at vauxhalls. My name is Pete Dougan.

I lived at 16 Tithe Farm Road from 1975-1981 and went to Whitehead Lower. I remember going to a nursery where we were collected by a school bus and would often see airships overhead. have tried to trace where this nursery is but no one can help. Anyone here?

Hi,
I am trying to find out some information/ memories for my cousins in Australia. They lived on Tithe Green Estate (Leaf Road and Hillsborough Crescent) from 1963-1969 when the family emigrated. They would love to know if anyone remembers them from school or playing in the street. Their father passed away not long after arriving in Australia, so any memories anyone has would be greatly appreciated. They were the Gibson boys, Donald, Ronald and John (yes, they don't know what their parents were thinking either 😄).

I was born in 1960 and lived on the Tithe Farm estate 1960 to 1973. When my parents moved from London in1960, my dad at first worked at Vauxhall.
I was at TIthe Farm infants and juniors 1965 to 1971, then Linmear, then for a month or so, Houghton Regis Upper.
