My great grandmother was Louise Bryan born 1858 in Hunmanby, her father was Francis Bryan b 1823 his mother my great great great grandmother was Elizabeth Bryan b 1801 her father was William Bryan b 1776 he would be my great great great great grandfather. All these were born in Hunmanby. Bryan Smart I guess that's where the 'Bryan' comes from! Also scattered amongst my tree from the surrounding area are Fenby's, Marflitt's, Rickman's, Skelton's Bryan
We lived at 70 Bridlington street from 1974 until 1988. The house and all those in Park rise were brand new. At the time our friends were Delvine and John Street, Chris and Roy Bartram, Carol and Gary Frear, Janet and Geoff Smith and a host of others too many to mention. My favourite pubs were the Railway Tavern (Sands Lane), The Buck and the Vetinary Arms. I remember Stockdales as mentioned in another memory. My ...see more
My parents and I moved to Hunmanby in 1950, from Scarborough. I was 11 yrs old and attended the elementary school on Stonegate. We owned the 'Stonegate Farm' across the street, which was my father's farm. I owned 4 horses, my passion, and our main garden was where the library was, now closed I hear. I'm from the USA but my mom is from Yorkshire and we spend many happy summers in Filey with my grandparents (every is living here in Southern California now). They had a home near the beach and we would spend the weekends in Filey. I took riding lessons at Fox's. My husband and I took a trip over to the UK in 1998 and stayed in Filey a few nights.
