More about this scene
The narrow, twisting High Street is flanked by buildings of all shapes and periods, many hung with the characteristic dark blue slates. At its foot is a glimpse of the magnificent church of St Mary Magdalene, whose granite exterior is lavishly embellished with decorative carvings of quatrefoils, inscriptions, saints and foliage.
