More about this scene
Dale Street was one of the ancient streets of the city and the main road to all points south. It contained many fashionable and important buildings, and was the home of many of the rising insurance companies who did business on the back of the Liverpool shipping companies. Royal Insurance, Liverpool, London & Globe, and Prudential Insurance were among those who had their headquarters here on this street. The tower in the distance is the Liverpool Municipal Building, constructed by the Corporation when the Town Hall proved too small.
