More about this scene
The Hill of Bran rises just to the north-east of Llangollen; perched high upon its summit is the ruin of Castell Dinas Bran. This is where Gruffydd ap Madoc withdrew after giving his support to the English Crown against the Welsh. Built out of local shale and slate, the castle is thought to have been built by Madoc in about 1236, though it could be earlier.
