More about this scene

Here we see an old post windmill in its last stages of decay. It appears that the mill has been used as a source of firewood. Note the remains of the primitive common sails, and also the two old-style poultry coops in the foreground. A replacement post mill was moved to the site in 1936; it still exists, but is not open to visitors.

I was educated at Madingley Church of England School, our Principal and teacher was Gwen Ruddell M.B.E. a remarkable teacher. Educated at Cambridge University she was the school teacher and principal for the 28 local children aged 4 to 11, from approximately 1950 till 1980.
