More about this scene

This quiet village was once on the main route up Swaledale, and had a Temperance Hotel and a smithy. A new road bypassed the village, and it has reverted back to its secluded charms. Its church, dedicated to St Edmund the Martyr, was built in the 12th century. The Georgian Marske Hall, owned by the Hutton family from 1842, has now been converted into luxury apartments.
