Born in Taunton, christened in St. Michael's church in 1940 and lived on Parkhouse Road on and off for several years until 1956. Had my first drink of scrumpy at the Plume of Feathers. Returning home from choir practice I passed the P of F and heard some jollity therein, so decided to go in (1955 - yes, I was 15). holidays by the sea. loved the roll call early morning campers. whole group of us stayed there for my 40 birthday . we spent really good times old chalets now gone they would sleep average two people
P Aden : I was at Butlins as well. (1962 - 1964) I remember the big dipper thing; we used to call it The Mouse. I often went up on it. I wonder what the camp is like now. Horrible dump, blasting out rap music probably.
I was born in Minehead, and have also lived in Kitswell, Dunster, Williton, Timberscombe and Rodhuish, and attended all the schools. My first job after leaving Minehead School in December 1958, was at the fruit and salad farm by Dunster station (which has now gone.)
