Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

That much-maligned but vital facility of the motorway network, the service station, was an early landmark. Newport Pagnell Services is now (2002) run by Welcome Break, but it is architecturally very little changed, with the glazed bridge a distinctive feature. This view looks south-east from the same Little Linford Lane bridge. Note the pipework in the central reservation protected by a few irregularly placed cones: a far cry from today's safety-conscious contra-flows and dense forests of cones.

5 High Street
We are in the process of purchasing 5 High Street which is shown in the middle of the photo with the hay loft open. Any pictures inside or out, history of the building/owners etc would be much appreciated.

My Childhood Holiday
My Aunt was the Matron in charge of Tickford Abbey and my Uncle was the caretaker in about 1960. I came down from Scotland to spend a long holiday with her when I was 4 or 5. I used to climb up the fire escapes over the roof and in through the bedroom windows much to the amusement of the old ladies. While I was there the lift was installed. My Aunt and uncle lived in a wooden chalet in the grounds. Happy days.

Before Milton Keynes
I now live in Australia but as a youngster I grew up just outside Newport Pagnell at Tongwell Farm. Whilst at school in Newport and whilst they were building the M1 motorway we used to get collected in a mini bus and driven too and from school each day. I well remember the announcement that they were going to build a new city called Milton Keynes and the farm would be part of that new city. Despite ...see more

Loved Going To The River

My grandmother had a shop in Newport Pagnall and my mother was born there, she is now 90 years old. We have fond memories of Lathbury where we used to have our summer holidays there, playing and swimming and fishing in the river. A great site, thank-you. Kind regards, Viv

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
