Newport Pagnell, Ousebank Gardens 1956

More about this scene
The High Street turns north, and it and the town end abruptly at the River Great Ouse, which flows through meadows liable to flooding. The ground drops to the river, which is crossed by a bridge on the Northampton Road. This view is in the grounds, now a public park, of Ousebank House, a fine late 17th-century brick house with giant pilasters. It is now occupied by the British Legion. The sandpit has been filled in, and the opposite bank of the Great Ouse is more overgrown.
