I gave birth to my daughter Emma Benson on 18/01/80 and then later my son Michael Benson 25/09/81 I also worked as an Auxiliary nurse until the move to the Friarage hospital I then went on to become an RGN (BSc Hons) and nurse prescriber.. I have a photo of all staff at the mount the day we moved but not sure how to post it on here yet

My grand-parents, Ernie and Winnie Hewby, lived in a big old house towards the end of Castle Hills across the lane from a small farm/small holding. I believe the house was called Standard Lodge and that during the war they ran a small café there and kept some pigs. I want to write mainly about the Court House, circa 1937, but some later memories have crept in. I was born in L'Espec Street. My grandmother lived in South Parade, opposite the Atkinson's house already mentioned elsewhere. I was born in Northallerton in 1952. My father was a cousin of the Smirthwaites and therefore worked in the garage that was once where Argos now stands. My mothers family were Atkinson's and they lived in South Parade. There were 6 children in the family (2 girls and 4 boys).
