Norwich, Cathedral, Choir West 1891

More about this scene
Norwich's choir stalls date from 1420; but up to 1515 they had more than their fair share of fires, necessitating rearrangements, renewals, repairs and additions. The great Norman crossing tower has windows high up, which flood the crossing with light. Beyond the crossing, the network of 15th-century vault ribs recedes into the distance.
