More about this scene
The attention of the children and the men is attracted momentarily from the movements of ships and the sea by the novelty of a camera. The shyness of the girl running to rejoin her group is virtually tangible, but the studied casualness of all involved indicate that the subjects posed for this view, rather than being caught naturally about their business. A large power-driven coaster lies at the jetty served by the corn store, and the letters PW on the port bow of the moored craft are the registration letters assigned to fishing boats in this port.
