More about this scene

The brick tower mill was built in c1820 to replace an earlier mill. It was damaged by storms in 1948 and repaired in 1950, when a gallery was added to the cap. The Bryant family have owned and maintained the mill since 1920. The turning windmill was used as one of the Intermissions between BBC television programmes in the 1950s.

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Pakenham...The only village in England with both a windmill and a watermill ! My daughter was born in Pakenham in the worst snowstorm in living memory. She was Christened at the Parish Church which stands next to the Vicarage which has a picture of a gentleman at a desk on a blocked up window said to have been painted by Whistler.
