Parkgate, The Parade c.1939

More about this scene
Like Neston, Parkgate saw increasing trade as a port once the River Dee around Chester began to silt up. At one time it was an important packet port for passengers travellingto Ireland, but then it too succumbed to the growing silt banks. Today the shoreline is a considerable distance away. The black and white building at the end is Mostyn House School, once the George Inn.
