The King And Queen Visit Queen's Road

A Memory of Peckham.

Some time soon after the Second World War, with our next door neighbours, we walked down to Queen's Road to watch the King and Queen drive by.
We stood near Evan Cook's Depository. I assume that their Majesties visited a lot of London's suburbs at this time, in order to cheer people up after the war.

My dear dad was Victor Carter and he lived in Heaton Rd Peckham with his brothers and sisters, Fred, Mick, Billy, Lil, and Ethel. They were friends with the Mabel, Eileen and Doddie I think, does anyone remember them?
I seem to remember my gran having a photo of the Queen visiting the play area in Peckham Rye Park, does anyone else remember that day?
