More about this scene
Polperro's narrow valley is particularly prone to flash floods; in the drought summer of 1976 a sudden downpour changed the stream into a raging torrent which threw cars around like corks and deposited several feet of mud in the streets. Flood relief works alleviated the threat, but in 1994 the village was again struck by flooding.
