More about this scene
Centre right is the Ship Inn, and on the left the Lifeboat House. Porthleven's first lifeboat, in 1863, was the 'Agar Robartes', which was replaced in 1882 by the 'Charles Henry White'. The Lifeboat House was built in 1893 at a cost of £1,400; in 1900 the 'John Francis White' was stationed here, followed in 1926 by the 'Dash'. The station closed in 1929.
