More about this scene
Though the shore to the south of Ramsey is rocky, a stroll along it at low tide was a popular Victorian way of taking some gentle exercise. Following a visit by Edward VII in 1902, the town styled itself 'Royal Ramsey', and why not? After all, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had also visited the town back in 1847.
