More about this scene
Here we see market day at Richmond in full swing. The first recorded market took place here in 1155; by 1440 the town was trading in a variety of commodities, ranging from dairy produce, wine and fish, to coal, lead-ore, copper and silk. Holy Trinity is an unusual building in that several shops, such as the one occupied by King & Son, were built onto it.
