Ruislip, The Lido, Miniature Railway c.1965

More about this scene
The Lido is situated about a mile to the north of Ruislip village. The grounds were laid out by T H Mawson in 1936, during the era of outdoor pool building, and in this context the Lido is special on account of its grand scale. The main building, designed by G W Smith, has now been converted reasonably sympathetically into a pub, and the miniature railway which skirted the water's edge on the opposite bank remains as something of a reminder of those balmy pre-war days.
