More about this scene
The same view as photograph No 48117, taken some time later, shows changes. The once-empty shop is now Brittanic Assurance, and next door to Hamblins is a wallpaper shop. MacFisheries has been tile-hung, losing a top floor window, and has turned into Hepworths, the tailors. The old Crown Hotel is soon to close and become another High Street shop.
