More about this scene
Fair Green lies past the junction of Bell Street and Knight Street and of the site of the town pump. It has an air of quiet elegance in the centre of this bustling town. A plaque dated 22 August 1951 set into the wall of the garden of Corner House reads: 'This plaque was erected by the Sawbridgeworth Urban District to commemorate the transfer to the Council of the manorial rights in the Fair Green, which rights are the subject of a charter granted by King Henry VI on the 13th February 1448'.
