More about this scene
Records of the existence of this street go back at least to the 15th century and it is known to have been used by travellers and pilgrims on their way to the Abbey. On the left-hand side of this street stood the buildings belonging to the Long Street Brewery which can be identified here as the tall building in the distance. The Dorsetshire Brewery (Sherborne) Ltd, later to be known as Thorne's, had been established in 1796 and ended its days under the name of Baxter's. This site was redeveloped in the 1980s as The Maltings, a residential complex.
