The Yeatman Hospital in Hospital Lane was completed in 1864 at a total cost of £2000; the foundation stone was laid by Mrs Wingfield Digby. Named after the Reverend Harry Farr Yeatman, the hospital opened on 19 March 1866 and today is still serving the local people. Further additions and enlargements to the hospital occurred in 1913, 1927, 1939 and 1965.
